Let's see how long THIS lasts

The previous pattern is broken, and now come the Santa Ana winds... which usually only come in October, and are the same winds (although with different molecules in tow) that caused those firestorms in Octobers of previous years. We're getting a seriously windy New Year's Eve and Day.

Rainy season

The fire danger here in SoCal is definitely and totally out, but that's because now it rains once a week. It rains every Friday and Saturday (at least, since the middle of November), and every Tuesday we get a high surf advisory. Very periodic pattern.

In other news, it's Edit Wikipedia Week. There's an edit tab on the top of every Wikipedia page - see Wikipedia's introduction to find out what all that stuff in the edit box is. Then when you come across a too-short article or one which needs to be proofread, click the edit tab and do it!

Guitar hero III IS Addicting, steph. I'm currently halfway through hard. Favorite songs so far: My Name Is Jonas-Weezer (Favorite song of all time, though), Even Flow-Pearl Jam, Prayer of the Refugee-Rise Against, Helicopter-Bloc Party (Co-op only), Bulls on Parade-Rage Against the Machine, and i'm amazed that the sex pistols rerecorded Anarchy in the UK for the game.

I just downloaded this new john mayer song, called Say. It's pretty good.

Not again!?

I poked my nose out the window this morning. Smoky.

Slightly curious, I turned on the radio. They were saying something about a fire in Malibu. I groaned.

Remember, last time that portended what was later called a "firestorm" by just about everyone I've heard from.

(note: an attempt at nonfiction narrative... to be continued in next posts (if I remember))

Okay

I just made some "pumpkin bread"...

and made a poll (the previous one was "what is your name? steph, KC, or other") to judge the uselessness of the previous poll.

And I posted a really odd video I found on the Internet. About going everywhere in the universe to try to get to some Target sale. Something like that, anyway.

HEY!!!

Hey guys! sorry, i havent really got the chance to go on here for sometime.
I got a new email address, so add me when you can. ^^ : aznXxanj3L@gmail.com

Oh, and i added some people from here on my facebook: go add me! :D
I have pics from my school and stuff up there...haha

hellooo

woot!!!!

IT'S OVER! CO-OP IS OVER! I NEVER HAVE TO TUOCH ANOTHER ON OF THOSE STUPID PREP BOOKS AGAIN!

it was easyyy i'm soo getting a scholarshippp like my sister!

by the way, CO-OP stands for Cooperative Admissions Exam ((i think)) . why they didn't call it the CAE is beyond me.

i'm worried though, because i might have got one wrong! it would be on the pic. analogies because i couldn't tell what the picture was...

it's like "return of 3rd grade phonics" . i always got 70s on phonics tests because i couldn't tell what the pictures were. like is it a broom or mop??

well the anaolgy picture was of a lumpy looking oval. i think it was a peach pit, but i'm not sure. ha..

hmm the SSAT sounds kinda like the CO-OP.

that reminds me of the SAT i took last year for some other john hopkins thingy. anyone else take it? i got a 7 on the essay (( ='[ )) and did sad on the math but really good on the reading. i don't remember the scores.. i'll look for them.

well...

what's a 1st friday treat?? i don't get it. we have mass on every 1st friday, is that the treat?

well, good luck to all with everything,

Well, that's over... or is it?

All the fires have now been contained. That should be a good thing.

But...

Those pesky Santa Ana winds are supposed to be blowing on and off and on for the next month. At least.

Meanwhile, life has gone back to normal for most people (the "Governator" responded well!), and now we have a new Allstate commercial to show for it. Why?

Saturday, November 3, 2007

Blown over

The fire danger has passed, but I hear that the Santa Ana winds are supposed to pick up again this weekend (tho they haven't yet). This means, KC, that those fires may or may not continue burning everywhere. Currently they have been contained (surrounded), which means that not much should happen now. Just keep fingers crossed (knock knock).

This is funny: http://www.techdebates.com/people/william/?p=63 (The difference between girlfriend and wife)

SSATs

SSATs suck. I took them today... SATs are so much easier than SSATs, surprisingly. Everything was pretty easy, but the vocab! UGH! I know most of the words, but some of the definitions didn't match! GAH GAH GAH. I could make a song describing how stupid the test was. I mean, it's not SUPPOSED to be stupid, cuz it's a required test to get into certain high schools, but still. It's stupid in my mind, and all of my friends' minds, and everyone who has take this test's mind. But at least the guys were there too. Afterwards, at least. But I hate how you can't talk about the test between breaks! Although, it does make sense... cuz then you could go back and change your answer... BUT STILL. I hate SSATs.

Oh yeah, for those of you who don't take this test, SSAT stands for Secondary School Admissions Test. It's for regular high schools, like those non-Catholic high schools. But I also have to take the HSPT (High School Placement Test) for those Catholic high schools. Or religious high schools. Or something. And maybe the whatever-test for the public school my mom is making me look at cuz the people there are super geniuses.

BLAH.

Steph, do you get First Friday treats (for religion)? Or is that just a my school thing?

Gotta go eat lunch. And maybe buy my friend her present for her birthday party tomorrow... And a card... At least I finished my homework yesterday after school.

OMG we had an earthquake a few days ago (5.6 magnitude) and it was so long!!! Like 45 seconds!!! For you non-earthquake-area-living people, 45 seconds is actually a really long earthquake. I'm sure you can find an article about that earthquake somewhere, especially since it's being broadcasted all over the news here in San Francisco.

I really hope the fires down in south Cali die down soon. I have friends who live there. And friends whose houses are down there even though they're in San Francisco now.

i've not really much to say except have any of you dealt with hysteric teachers?

like my religion/social studies teachers cries a lot. it's weird. and she always has puffy cheeks. i diagnose she's on some steroid medication.

ugh school's as pointless as ever.

6 days til i take the CO-OP!!!! ahh wish me luck. it's on nov. 9

nanowrimo

My dad recently discovered this contest-like thing on the web. It's a thing called NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). It's where you sign up and get an account, and you have to write and submit a novel of 50,000 words in 30 days. It started on midnight November 1. It's not supposed to be a really well written novel....its going for quantity more than quality I think. Anyway, the link is http://www.nanowrimo.org/. I thought some people who are writers here might be interested.

My oh my

The fire still is about a city away. School was canceled today because air quality was judged as "very unhealthy", courtesy of fires. We will still lose some office hours, to make up for the lost day, but this was still a cause for rejoicing by about everyone else. Not me. The teachers are complaining that their schedules have been messed up and that now we'll have to rearrange all the tests... I'll probably get all three tests (two were supposed to be today, one was scheduled for Monday) on Monday, if they haven't already canceled school on Monday.

Thursday, October 25, 2007

ugh

I found out today that the same man here (http://www.newsday.com/news/local/ny-lirape1026,0,2478675.story) Taught me 8th grade history. frankly, it's more than disturbing. Oh, well. he was a pretty weird teacher anyway.

Monday, October 22, 2007

AARGH! RUN!

Apparently I live uncomfortably close to one of these fires. It's really a bit too smoky for comfort. My second period teacher distributed face masks, and I have taken mine and switched out tissues inside the face masks to keep from having to throw mine away (currently I don't have any others). They may or may not cancel school tomorrow...

People are trying to get out of the north side of town. I live on the south side of the town, though, so for now there isn't anything too bad. Yet.

Stuff.

So I have some stuff to say.
  1. Soccer game today: we lost 2-1, but we won in spirit. And also, IF we had all our players, we would have won the game. 3 players quit near the beginning of the season, and then for today's game, 4 people didn't come. One was on an exchange trip in China for school, one was involved in the crew of her school's fall drama and couldn't make it, and I have no idea why the other two didn't come. But here's how it went. At the start of the game: 7 players, 1 goalie. During the second half of the game, one of our players does something to her toe or something, and can't kick or run or anything, and she has to be taken off the field. At the end of the game: 6 players, 1 goalie. So assuming we had all our players, we would have won.
  2. Geometry is stupid. We have a stupid test! I know, I voted for Algebra 1 on the poll, except (I said this before, didn't I?), being the nerd I am, I'm in the optional geometry class my math teacher and the boys' math teacher offered. And we have a stupid freaking geometry test on Thursday. And on Friday too. But at least I have a good geometry partner :D (*wink wink nudge nudge*)
  3. ARGH I HAVE A PUBLICATIONS DEADLINE COMING UP!!!! Which means a few things. A) I have to write a few articles, B) This coming week (minus Monday) will have to be spent editing articles and formatting DURING MY LUNCH PERIOD. Which means I can't stare at my geometry partner. I hate deadline weeks... Well, at least my yearbook page is done...
  4. My final cross-country meet is next Tuesday with all the schools. I think we might be able to take first place this year, instead of taking second after a 3-way tie (like last year).
  5. I had something else... But I forget. Maybe if I keep typing random stuff I'll think it up... Hmmm... Nope. Not coming up. Maybe I'll think of it some other-- OMG I JUST REMEMBERED!!! So. My best friend (well, one of my BFF's) got tickets to see the Jonas Brothers IN CONCERT!!! UGH!!! Lucky buttface. And all the tix are sold out, and same with Hannah Montana, and no one else is in concert. Linkin Park isn't on tour, and Avril is just finishing her tour in ATLANTA, GEORGIA. Like I can totally fly across the country on a weeknight to see Avril. UGH!
So that's it. I'll post again when something interesting happens.

OOH I just remembered I have a Halloween dance party to go to on the 27th... and then I have the school Halloween dance on Halloween. Duh. YAY!!!

Okey. Done.

*witty title*

I'm bored, and trying to put off homework. Nothing really interesting to say....bleh........
-Nick

Saturday, October 13, 2007

blah

I. Hate. Algebra. With a passion. WAIT NO!!!! I hate algebra ardently. Thats a word from G&T class that we're supposed to use in real life. Yay me. I get a word point.

Anyway, back to algebra.

I have a really bad teacher.....she explains it terribly. Right now we're on chapter three and she keeps forgetting to mention little rules.....so my older sister who took Algebra for two years (8th and 9th) has to point them out for me. Right now my average is a 79. AH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've never EVER gotten a C before. And if I don't get up to a B i get kicked out of Algebra and get put in the normal 8th grade math, pre-algebra. There's a test on Monday, so all weekend I'm studying for math. Except for right now, because my mom decided that G&T homework is important too.

We only have 40 minutes to take the test, and that's one thing that really kills me. I always finish RIGHT before the bell rings, so I don't have time to go back and check my work. If anyone has any tips about shortcuts in Algebra to help make me finish quicker, please share.

*sigh* OK, back to writing the movie review.

Thursday, October 4, 2007

Hmmm...

YAY PEOPLE POSTED!!! Of course, it is the normal people... but still!

So. School. Homework isn't TOO bad, since the teachers know we're busy with shadowing and applying to schools, but we still have tests and quizzes... BLEH. And my math teacher and the guys' math teacher offered a geometry course at 7:30 in the morning which, since I'm such a nerd, I go to.

But it's kinda cool. And my geo. partner is cool. Peter. He's cool and smart and *giggle* hott. And (sorry GUYS and you other non-boy-obsessed people) I think he kinda likes me cuz he keeps touching my arm or brushing his leg on mine (which, I know, sounds kinda wrong...) and stuff. Oh, and he's my pencil buddy. Peter made that up. Not me. He never brings a pencil to geometry, so I always lend him a pencil so now he calls me his pencil buddy. And he finds my pencil incredibly amazing (he's easily amused) cuz it's a shaky pencil, which means you shake it for the lead to come out. And yeah.

What else? Oh yeah, I shadowed a high school today. It was my second shadow, and I seriously need to start writing my high school application essay(s). I have to look back at the topic and see what I'm supposed to write about. But I'll do that tomorrow after my piano lesson. I'm busy watching the new season of Law & Order: Criminal Intent now, but I don't like CI as much as SVU (Special Victims Unit).

GAH. My mom is being weird. She says I'm typing too loudly.

No one interesting is on AIM now! Then again, it is like almost 11 here in San Francisco... But I still have 18/98 people signed on so YAY!

Mmkay, I think I'm done for now.

NO I'M NOT! Okay, sports update:
1. Cross country: 1st meet- 2nd place, 2nd meet- 1st place, 3rd meet- 1st place (surprisingly, we beat the two HARDEST schools in the league!). And we have a meet next Wednesday. And we're gonna win. Our 6th graders are crazy fast. Seriously. The fastest one is always in the top 5. I'm not sure which place she got in the 1st meet, but in the 2nd meet she got 1st and at the 3rd one she got 2nd. CRAZY fast.
2. Soccer: 2-0-1. We tied the 1st game 1-1, won the 2nd game 4-0, and won the 3rd 3-1. We have a game on Saturday at 3:00 (horrible time, I know) and I'm hoping we'll win. But I think we're good. We haven't been playing with ANY subs at the last two games cuz people quit and some people can't make it to games, so we have to play the entire game. Unless Celia can make it... Then we'll sit one person out at a time. But yeah.

Okay, NOW I'm done. So, recap: okay homework load, hott geometry partner crushing on me (possibly), hott geometry pencil buddy partner thing, high school shadowing (which is actually really fun, especially since I get to see all these people who used to go to my school), and xc/soccer. Yep. Okey dokey pokey artichokey.

xoxo,
KC

P.S. Sorry this is super long.

meh..

Steph here.

back from watching reality shows and eating tons of candy nerds ((my drug of choice))

i hate school.

i'm gonna have pics of my lame, boring, catholic school tomorrow.

right now i'll post one from last week.

it's my friend, derreck, eating something nasty looking. i just think it's funny..

oh, you have every right to make fun of our uniforms.

Long Overdue, and Pictures

Hi All, Nick Here.
Man, I meant to use this more often while In school. I've been busy with sophmore things and Stage crew (for the fall play-The Diary of Anne Frank (I didn't get a part in the 12-person cast)). Please excuse all of the pictures here. I have first period Digital Photography, and i feel like showing off some of my work. I have chemistry this year, and despite it supposedly being the "hardest science course", it's remarkably easy. Same with Global History, which was my worst class last year (bad teacher, I suppose).

School is good, I guess.

I'm on facebook now. Search for "Nick Pitman" in the "Garden City Senior High School" network.

And now, some pictures:
Picture #1 (Top)-the rare sight of an empty hallway.
Picture #2-Garden City High School in all of it's first-period-7-in-the-morning glory.

Picture #3-The Graffiti'd walls of the basement, where we stage crew-ers do our thing.

Picture #4-The reason why i bring my own lunch.

Picture #5-I think this picture just looks cool.

Picture #6-This kinda just strikes me as a "defining picture" of Garden City. The street that runs through nearly the entire town ends and branches out right at that building, so people see it every day. I always thought it just looked nice.

Picture #7-Ballin!

lightbulb jokes; main ideas

Q:How many therapists does it take to change a lightbulb?
A:Only one, but the lightbulb must WANT to change.

Using that as my introduction. People, there is a point here, and what would you think this point would be? I'll put them all down. One at a time, please...

a)Therapists have something to do with lightbulbs.
b)People like making lightbulb jokes.
c)School started.
d)The leaves are changing color.
e)Help! I missed the school bus! (only kidding, I bicycle to school [downhill])

After all, there is a point everywhere.

High school:
a)Lockers that I can barely fit my hand into, let alone my books
b)New binders!!!
c)Water polo team (we only have 12 people, so everyone is on Varsity or Junior Varsity- even the freshpeople)
d)Getting to ingratiate myself with a whole new set of teachers
e)Asking "What is the meaning of life?" when teachers ask "Any questions?"
f)Cereal bars
g)Portable City and trying to find V22 (of 40)
h)Endorsements for Student Council elections (actually, I seem to be a good endorsement, who knows why)
i)Correcting my history teacher's pronunciation of "Iraq" and "al-Qaida" (she learned from President Bush O_o)
j)A silly science teacher (hey, alliteration!)

And finally, my other lightbulb joke:

Q:How many Communists does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
A:None, because apparently the lightbulb contains the seeds of its own *revolution*.

P.S. KC, it's supposed to be"tu es fatiguee" in French. Remember your agreement on "fatigue": a girl as the subject should add an "e" to the end of most adjectives. Ditto for "elle" and girls' names in the front.

Friday, September 28, 2007

Blergh

Je suis fatigue. <-- French for "I'm tired."

Homework, sports, high school shadows/writing applications, piano, etc. The homework load isn't TOO bad, but some nights, it's really bad. Sports: cross country, we got 2nd place at the first meet and 1st place at the second meet and we have another meet next Tuesday (but it's the suckiest meet EVER TO EXIST); soccer, we tied 1-1 during our first game, we won 4-0 for our second game, and we have another game tomorrow. I haven't been swimming.

High school. This gets its own paragraph thing. I visited my first school on Wednesday, and it was actually kinda fun. It's a nice school, too. Big (and I'm used to a small school) but nice. And the people there are really nice, especially my shadow person and this girl I know who used to go to my school. She even came up to me and said hi and hugged me!!! And then I have another shadow next Thursday at my first choice school. And I have an essay to write for the applications... And forms to fill out and give to the correct people, or whatever it is I'm supposed to do. But yeah.

And I have a dance party tomorrow night! ^^

So, that's it. For now.

POST SOMETHING! PLEASE! I want to know what you guys are doing! Anything funny?

KC

But I won't ever forget about you guys. You're too awesome to be forgotten. Even if you have strange teachers who pronounce "donkey" "dunkey". (What is a dunkey anyways?)

Is anyone else doing a CTY Distance Education thing again?

BTW, I had a soccer game today, and we won 4-0.

freaky teachers

I think the board of education is trying to scare the eighth graders of my school into good behavior by giving us the weirdest teachers ever (too bad, it doesn't work). My civics teacher is the head of some teachers union, and basically she organizes all the strikes and is the first person to go to jail when it happens. When the teachers were actually on strike a few years ago, she sat in the middle of the parking lot in a lawn chair until they arrested her. You see the kind of people that are teaching the youth of America? So it was the first day of class and she goes to the back of the room to hand out text books. All of a sudden she leans down and says, "here's that old tissue!" and gives us a lecture on how to sneeze correctly.
The other freaky teacher gave us a whole lecture on what to do if he caught on fire and spent ten minutes of class looking us over and saying "uh huh....uh huh...." He wasn't as bad, though.

I already have a bunch of homework....I should probably do that instead of wasting my time on the computer but too bad.

*sigh*

ick.

dang KC.

you're lucky that your schoo is that funny. =P

my school, like yours, is UBER-HOT. ((temperature)) and we get the hottest room in the building..

my advanced math/science teacher it old and weird and smells funny. but at least the back of her room doesn't smell like a petting zoo ((my previous homeroom teacher had a pet chinchilla. ew.))

my arch nemesis is there. it's kinda like voldemort and harry. ((i call i get to be voldy!!)) i hate him. i hate him. i hate him.

last year some people ran for student council ((president, or "Big P" as i call it, VP, secretary, and treasurer)). i ran for president against mr. evil ((everyone likes him. i want to rip his hair out and make him eat it)). i ended up losing. by one friggen vote. and i found out that all the closest friends didn't even vote for me! they said they would, but lied and didn't.

so everytime i see him, it's a reminder of that.

makes me wanna stick my finger in a pencil sharpener and "sharpen" it.

wait i kid in my class did that once in 2nd grade. by accident.

second, my homeroom teacher is an idiot. she's the middle school SS/Religion teacher. she can't pronounce anything. she pronounces debtors with the b. she sounds retarded. she also thinks pentecost is 50 days long. she's the religion teacher too.

gosh i hate school.

i'm gonna post a random pic or part of the class. ((you can't see me in it))

School. Joy.

Guess what happened today? Yep, you guessed it, SCHOOL. Joy.

Honestly, one of the only good things about today was that it was a half day. Just about everything else SUCKED.
  1. My best friend is not in my class!!! (Well, actually three of my best friends aren't in my class... I only have two of my very best friends in my class.)
  2. I am the last in the alphabet if we count by class and not by grade, so I'll just PRAY (I also go to a Catholic school, like Steph) that we never count by class.
  3. It's hot. I mean the heat, temperature thing. And today, we had dress uniform, so we had to wear an Oxford shirt (long sleeve!) and a freaking navy blazer. Of course, we all did take off our blazers and roll up our sleeves and completely unbutton the Oxfords (okay no, we didn't COMPLETELY unbutton it, just the first... three, but the first one was already unbuttoned) but it was still hot.
  4. I ate lunch with my mom at Johnny Rocket today and halfway through our meal, guess who came in? FIVE FREAKING GUYS FROM THE BOYS' SCHOOL. And guess what's worse? One of them is like totally obsessed with me and last year during whatever unfortunate activities I had to do with, he stared at me. THE ENTIRE TIME. Luckily, my back was to him and his friends, and his back was to me. But still.
  5. We had a morning assembly today, welcoming everyone back and blah blah blah, and then our Head of School person was like talking to us, but I was like zoning out but pretending to be listening (since I am an eighth grader and I'm expected to "set an example"). Suddenly I was reminded of this yearbook picture from a few years back (this is the funny part) and I was thinking to myself, "Wow, she had hair before!" cuz now her hair is like chopped and before it was like long.
So yeah. There's the story of my first day at school. Oh yeah, and we got homework. I mean yeah, it is easy, but still. HOMEWORK ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! How unfair could life BE?

Gotta go do my homework. I'll see if I can finish before soccer practice... Maybe I'll carpool with my friend...

NOOOO

i have school tomorrow...

ahh.

i don't really care about the work, because i do fine in all of it, but i hate the people in my class.

because i go to a catholic school, we stick with same people all the time. which sucks considering i hate most of the people. each day i pray for one of them to be hit by a bus.

this is gonna suck..

mental support is appreciated.

now i'm going to go waste the rest of this precious day away by playing ratchet & clank on the ps2.

Flying Saucers....real ones....&more

I don't know how many of you have heard about this (or care) but some company developed a 'hover car' that can take off/land on the ground and hover ten feet in the air. They're selling for $90,000 and you don't even need a pilot's license or whatever in order to fly one.

Anyways.

School starts on Thursday (ugghhhh) and I still have to go back to school shopping. Yayyyy. not. At least my first soccer game is on Sunday....thats something to look forward to, even though there's a possibility that we might get our butts kicked since we moved from national 2 to premiere. But we either got second or third place in the tournament yesterday so thats good!

Speaking of soccer, my dad and my sister are going through this freaky faze of watching the professional soccer games on the Spanish channel. They get really into it, and when someone scores they turn the volume up really loud and yell "GOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLL" along with announcer. Scary.

ok I'm done now.

ohmygod

i must be the stupidest person alivee...

first...i really have to read posts more thoroughly instead of skimming over them...so nick you can ignore that cast question since you already answered ittt.....

and then...kc, you better go to that boys like girls concert and get me an autograph!!!

oh yeahh...this is rona btw. if you havent figured that out already lol

kk

yay for kc!! go lotr and, more importantly, ORLANDO!!! so i just realized that nick broke his arm because thats just how stupid i amm...so nick, that must really really suck--ive never actually broken anything--just fractures. how much longer do you have your cast for? my one friend had a really bad break and she had her cast on for like six months, and then she couldnt put too much pressure on it. so yeah--i feel for you && your arm.

so how is school for everyone? this past week i have just endured my first ever freshman friday and first xc meet of the season, in which we kicked some red-and-white booty =)

YAY! 100th Post!

Yeah, according to the dashboard, this is the 100th post on the pizza party blog. Hoo-ray.

KC, The arm is good, thanks. I have the cast for another 3 or 4 weeks.
I've been meaning to go see The 11th Hour, but I've also heard that it's kind of the Anti-An Inconvenient truth. And by that, I mean, that while It contained many facts, An Inconvenient Truth lacked any feeling that it was a movie. I've heard that The 11th Hour is more like a movie, but lacking in facts. My verdict:Find a copy of the Live Earth Global Warming Survival Handbook (Dammit, I cannot friggin escape Live Earth). Or watch both movies. Or watch both movies and read the book version of An Inconvenient Truth. Or Watch both movies and read the survival handbook and An Inconvient Truth. Just do SOMETHING.

But that's not why I came to post.............I've always wanted to do some lists of favorite Albums/Movies/etc...so Here we go, and if you don't like it, well, too bad. Put that in your juice box and suck it.

10 Favorite albums of all time....no particular order.
Greatest Hits and live Albums are not allowed to be added.
Ramones-The Ramones
Continuum-John Mayer
Everything Goes Numb-Streetlight Manifesto
Weezer(The Blue Album)-Weezer
By The Way-Red Hot Chili Peppers
Anthem-Less Than Jake
London Calling-The Clash
Disreali Gears-Cream
Abbey Road-The Beatles
Sublime-Sublime

5 Favorite Movies of all time...Again, No Particular order.
Clerks.
End of The Century-The Story of the Ramones.
Ocean's 11
The Forty Year Old Virgin
A Hard Day's Night.

yeah.......ebbitybeepebitybeeThat'sAllFolks!
-Nick

A Few Things...

Okay, so, as my title says, a few things:
  1. Who here besides me hasn't started school yet? Because I feel like I'm the only person on the planet (besides everyone who goes to my school) who hasn't started yet. I start next Wednesday. Anyone else starting as late as me?
  2. Sorry I didn't say anything about your arm when you first said it, Nick, but how is it now?
  3. If/When Rona comes back and checks this out and sees my post: Rona, I got all 3 LOTRs and I rewatched POTC1 which means... ORLANDO BLOOM!!! Okay, done. FOR NOW.
  4. Publications... Yearbook, newspaper, etc. I have another training session today... But at least I get to see my friends. And InDesign is actually a really cool program. Except for the fact that it's kinda hard in the beginning...
  5. Oh shoot. I had some-- OH I REMEMBER NOW! 11th Hour is out now. It's that new documentary/movie thing starring/produced by Leonardo (DiCaprio) about global warming and all and how we can solve it, instead of just saying what's happening. It's cool.
So that's all for now. Now I have to go do Chinese homework... Or practice piano... I don't want to... But I guess I have to.

BYE!

KC/PotterLover

HA! Never mind. I don't have to go yet. My mom is on the phone and when she's on the phone she can't make me do anything! HA! I WIN I WIN I WIN!!!

Sorry. I've gotten into this annoyingly stupid habit of going "I WIN I WIN I WIN!!!" at random times, especially when it's quite obvious that there's nothing TO win. But yeah, whatever. That's just a part of me.

I AM SO HAPPY!!! Packages, packages, and more packages!!! Of course, they're not all here right now... But still. I'm getting all my packages soon. So HA! I WIN I W-- Fine. I'll shut up.

Blah, I don't wanna write/type anymore right now. My legs are so sore right now (not that I type with my feet or anything, just that the soreness/pain travels up my body to my arms/hands/fingers) from Wednesday's soccer practice... Ugh, I really need to get in shape.

Ciao! (for real)

No real topic here, just me rambling.

Crap.............by this time next week, I'll be starting my first class of Social Studies 10H. And I still have a summer reading book to finish, but at least it's short.

I'll still be posting here when school starts, I'm aiming for about twice a week or so.

By this friday, I'll finally be able to record some songs....But I'm not 100% sure if i'm even able to play guitar now. Damn arm....

Another couple of songs for the ska list...
Less Than Jake-Plastic Cup Politics
Operation Ivy-Unity (The Operation Ivy Version isn't on iTunes, but the Reel Big Fish cover version is.)
***************Zebrahead-Anthem (Everyone, LISTEN TO THIS SONG. It's kinda different than standard Ska, but it's really good. Listen to this, espicially if you like Linkin Park.)

Yeah, I think that's it.

I'll do whatever I can to record, And if I can't upload them onto here, IM me (NickBeOnAim) and I'll gladly send it to you.

Custom Search

Hi.

You notice the search box up there? I dug around on the Internet and found it. It's set to "emphasize results from this website", which is just as well.

Do you like it?

Whoa...lots of posts...

Wow.
The last time I checked this blog was a couple of weeks ago...I have a lot of catching up to do.
I went to Maine for a week and stayed in a really cool beach house...and then I came back to NY and had to finish my stupid summer reading assignment (anyone read How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff? I don't recommend it - it's weird) that took me like three weeks to do 'cause I ended up going on the Internet and watching videos on YouTube every time I sat down to do it.
And then school's starting for me on Sept. 5...ick. High school...I already got my schedule and they've put me in a class I didn't sign up for.
If you guys want to IM me, my AIM sn is Lvffmusica9236.
Enjoy what's left of summer, everyone. And for those of you already in school, good luck!

OMG!

Yeah, sorry guys about my giantly long post about the swim meet... I was just seriously pissed at the time. But hooray! My coach let me off the hook, and for once, he actually saw reason with me! He understood that as an incoming eighth grader, I will have an increasingly busy schedule, especially with my sports and stuff. High school applications, cross-country, soccer, Conge planning, etc. So he was like, "Okay, I get it. So you can't make it to this meet." And I was like, "Yeah, I'm really sorry, I'll try to make it to the December meet." And acted all sincere about being sorry. So YIPPEE!!!!!

And BIG OMG!!!!

OMG I'M SO EXCITED AND HAPPY ABOUT MY LATEST DISCOVERY!!!!

Guess who's coming to San Francisco for a concert on October 26 this year???

BOYS LIKE GIRLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG I'm so excited/happy/bubbly/OOH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, just had to say that. But yay I'm so happy!!!!!!!

The Rock and the Hard Place

I wonder what you'd call that type of a dilemma (see post below), but...

Option one: get killed now
Option two: get killed later

Sounds pretty useless, but getting killed now is better because you get yelled at less. It's a technicality.

For a description, see the title of this post.

Swim Meet

My job: to make a random decision to change font. Your job: deal with it. (Ha ha like the song by Corbin Bleu!!!)

Anyhoo, swim meets... We have a swim meet coming up, but I am facing a dilemma. A Hobson's Choice, as some people who have read A Series of Unfortunate Events might call it.

I don't wanna go, especially because I won't be getting like ANY training for it, since I'll be doing cross-country and soccer (which I'm taking up again after like... 4 years) and my schedule will be so full that I have no swimming time. Because my schedule will probably go something like this:

Monday: cross-country practice
Tuesday: cross-country practice or meet
Wednesday: soccer practice, possible cross-country meet
Thursday: piano, or cross-country practice if my teacher can't make it
Friday: cross-country
Saturday: soccer game

(Yes, I know, cross-country actually takes a TON of work. Running long distance, over hills and into valleys, your legs NEED to be trained up, and ready to roll.)

Which leaves only Sunday. But we have no swim practice on Sunday (nor would I want to go on a perfectly good Sunday) so I would have absolutely no time for swimming.

My swim meet is on a Saturday/Sunday. And I have another few problems, after my busy schedule.

One problem: I'll probably have a soccer game on Saturday, and on Sunday, I'll be dead beat. Running around, kicking a ball, defending my goal with the goalie, it's a hard job being a sweeper or part of the defense line.

Second problem: My coach said to us on Wednesday that if we don't do our three events at this meet, then we have to swim EVERY event on EVERY day of the meet. Well, I'm not sure about the Friday one... but who cares right now? (I really should.)

Third problem: My meet sheet thing (that slip of paper where you say which events you're gonna do) is due TODAY. And my parents don't seem to really care. No, actually, it's not that they don't care, just that they have other more pressing matters. But this is kinda important.

Seriously. How am I supposed to tell my parents that A) I don't want to go to this meet, but B) if I don't go, however, my coach will murder me? And they won't understand either. They never went to swim meets before, nor did they have an evil torturing coach who loves to kill his swim kids during practice. Oh sure, they've been to my swim meets. But you know, coach/parent, adult/adult, they get along perfectly well. So I have no one on my side in this argument!

So my Hobson's Choice: I can either A) go to this meet with no previous training in the weeks before, die, and get yelled at by my coach for getting a ridiculously slow time, or B) not go to this meet without prior training, run cross-country as usual, play soccer, and die at the next meet where my coach will force me to swim every event on every day.

Yes, I know. My life sucks at this point. I should never have gone to the pool Wednesday. I KNEW I should have just gone today instead since I already HAVE TO (teaching all the little Learn-to-Swim kids), but NO, my parents were like, "You've already missed so much swimming, so you're going to the pool today."

And guess what? First day back, and I'm so dead. I'm serious. I went for like so long with no swimming whatsoever, and then, look what happens: I almost died during the WARM UP. That's so not right. But whatever.

And I need to deal with this problem before 4:00 PM. And this is so not gonna happen.

Ugh. PotterLover is not happy. Not happy at all.

P.S. I also posted this on my blog, but I felt like putting it here too.
P.P.S. Sorry if it's too long. I just had a lot to say.
P.P.S.S. It's okay if you guys didn't read the entire thing. I won't be hurt. I just need something to vent out all my anger with.

Is ska ska or ska?

I've been checking out a lot of the ska that nick posted a while ago (reel big fish is awesome) and I was showing it to my sister and we got into a little argument (surprise) about how the word 'ska' is pronounced....I said that it was with an 'ah' sound at the end and she said that it had an 'uh' sound at the end. Can someone tell me how its really supposed to be pronounced?

Scientific

I just made a "random" label for those people who simply like posting absolutely random things. So use it for those posts you think will not make any sense at all to most people (assuming you aren't "most people").

YAY!

just came back from an INTENSEEE couple of days. wed. to thurs. evening was hershey park ((went on ALL the roller coasters)) then fri. to sun. evening was uncle's, where i met up with my cousins. saturday we went to the beach and stuff, and sunday...we went swimming in the rain and stuff.

the most mosquito bites i've ever had at once was like 5. but NJ isn't really tropical..

woah, KC, ..you survived nature...with ants

and of course i want a giant freaky dead mosquito that was on your food! =]

i wonder if giant freaky dead mosquitoes in food live in random cabins on random mountains in Taiwan...

Mosquitoes

San Francisco, here I come!!! (Well, no, not really. I have to wait for my flight before I can say that but whatever.)

So. Taiwan. Mosquitoes.

Steph, I have tons of mosquito bites you can have, since you told me to bring you back a mosquito bite. Actually, I have plenty to go around for all you CTY friends. I have... *counts again* 25 mosquito bites. And I would be totally happy to share with you guys!!!

I already told Betty this over email, and it's also on my personal blog, but I think I'll tell you guys here too.

My aunt/uncle/cousin took me and my family to go sleep in some random wooden cabin on some random mountain for one night. That night, we went down the mountain a little ways for dinner. Naturally, there were bugs. But, one MAJOR problem: I have a severe case of insectophobia...

So I was just eating my dinner, occasionally pointing out the scary ant that crawled onto the table so my family could get it away from me, and I had a plate (actually bowl, but who really cares?) of food, including some veggies.

I was about to take a bite when suddenly...

EEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A GIANT FREAKY DEAD MOSQUITO ON MY PRECIOUS FOOD. (Steph, do you want it?)

I was staring at it in shock for a second, and then I nearly screamed. My parents and aunt/uncle were like, "Yeah, okay, just take it out and you'll be fine." But they were forgetting the major problem: my insectophobia. I cannot just see a bug in my food, take it out, and continue eating like nothing ever happened. It's not in my system. And my cousin was LAUGHING at me when I was half crying about the scary mosquito in my food. Honestly, could he be any less tactless???

I got another plateful of food, but after that, I kinda lost my appetite...

So that's my big scary story of dinner on the random mountain.

PotterLover

P.S. I hate the computer keyboards in the CAL VIP Lounge... It's so hard to type with stiff keys...

Ok, Ska time.

Yeah, I'm bored, so I'm recommending music that I know everyone'll like if they give it a listen: SKA. Reggae/Punk with Horns, and some saxophones. It's more underground than stuff like RHCP and Linkin Park. No "World tour sponsored by (Insert Company name)" But the stuff is amazing. Please, don't decide to not listen to this just because I put "Punk" or "Reggae" in it's description. You'll understand what I mean if you listen to it. I'm not trying to push this on anyone, but Judging from what people said on the Music forum, A lot of people here would love this stuff.
Bands to Check Out:
Reel Big Fish
Streetlight Manifesto
Catch-22
Less Than Jake
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones
Sublime (more on the reggae side)
Bandits Of The Acoustic Revolution(B.O.T.A.R) ((OrcheSka)Extreme Ska, 15 piece band with violins and Even more horns and stuff)
Albums to Check Out:
***Reel Big Fish-Our Live Album Is Better Than Your Live Album (Live Album, 2 discs, 1 dvd, really good value.)
***Reel Big Fish-Turn The Radio Off
***Streetlight Manifesto-Everything Goes Numb (kinda darker tone to the songs)
Less Than Jake-Anthem (Not so much ska, but more like Punk with Horns)
Catch-22-Keasbey Nights (The Original, later entirely covered by Streetlight Manifesto)
B.O.T.A.R.-A Call To Arms-EP (5 songs, all amazingly textured with all the instruments)
Songs to Check Out Now:
***Reel Big Fish-Beer
Reel Big Fish-Sell Out
Reel Big Fish-The Fire
***Streetlight Manifesto-Everything Went Numb
Streetlight Manifesto-A Moment of Silence/A Moment of Violence (2 Songs in the same kinda arc)
***Streetlight Manifesto-A Better Place, A Better Time
Catch-22-Dear Sergio
***B.O.T.A.R.-Here's To Life (This Is A Call To Arms introduction optional)
Less Than Jake-The Science Of Selling Yourself Short
Less Than Jake-All My Best Friends Are Metalheads
Sublime-Santeria
Sublime-What I Got
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones-The Impression That I Get

I should note that Streetlight Manifesto, B.O.T.A.R, and Keasbey-era Catch-22 all have the same singer/guitarist, Tomas Kanolky, He's like, the New Jersey King Of Ska. Check Wiki for all the stuff he did.

Ok, I know I just listed A Lot, but I marked the best stuff with a ***. Please check the stuff out, You won't be disappointed.

The Ring...my poor dad.

My dad and my sister were watching the ring...and my dad was like freaking out. The phone rang and he was like "NO! DON'T ANSWER IT! I DON'T WANT TO DIE!" And then he kept warning everyone "If the tv turns on by itself, don't look at it!"

So, of course, I'm going to call the house phone, or his cell phone, in the middle of the night and be like "you will die in 7 days!"

hehe. I'm so nice to my poor superstitious daddy.

New Sn, Broken Arms, and Music

Hey everyone, long time, no write.

First things first, I made a new SN: NickBeOnAim . Add me.

The concert for Bach To Rock was last sunday. It was fun. but I ended up breaking my arm at dress rehearsal because I was running around the room (not just the stage part) for the last song (wireless mic.) And.......I tripped on a scarf. one of the props left out for the younger kids. so, I was playing the concert w/ a cast.

Serious Head injuries and stuff

Well the other day I tripped over a something (idk what) and knocked my self out on a table. It was pretty amazing, I actually saw stars which I thought only happened in cartoons. I actually still have the bump. It was one of the most uniquely painful experiences of my life.
I am so very sad that summer is almost over for me. I'm partly excited to go back to school, but only for the fun parts.
Today I stumbled across a website that sells mutant animal remains. I didn't realize they were actually for sale until I accidentally bought one. I cancelled that order, but I'm hoping no strange packages land on my doorstep.

fitness camp

I don't know if anyone's every done really hard fitness camp before, but it sucks. It lasts for an hour and a half. We had to do suicides, 120's in 20 seconds, footwork, and I don't know what its called (stuff like stationary lunges and mountain climbers).
There were three girls who kept throwing up, and then talking about it later. It was SUPER gross.

But my dad got us tickets to go to Italy over spring break! We're going to go to Rome, Venice and then possibly Umbria or Tuscany or something like that. I'm so happy!

Cat drool

Yes, cat drool. And not in a 'dogs rule cats drool' kind of way.

Just before I was petting my cat and then all of a sudden i feel wetness on my arm....so i look at my cat and there are droplets of water running out of her mouth. Then she shook her head and got it all over my bed! It was really kind of gross for such a cute cat. I didn't even know that cats were able to drool....or maybe I just never thought of it.

kc......nooo....dont leave.....*cries* lol

well i hope you have a good time in taiwan! ive never been there before, only to the mainland. tell us about your trip!

Bye Bye!!!

Nice story. Very enjoyable. I think. I feel like I've heard that before... Or maybe it was just a story that sounded something like that. Oh, never mind.

Anyhoo, I'm leaving today!!! I'm going to Taiwan/Taipei/Tainan, where it's completely mosquito-infested and I will have to breathe Cameron/Ca-moron polluted air. I'm taking a red eye... blah. So I'll be up pretty late. I'll be on the plane all of Thursday and I'll land Friday morning, Taiwan time. Which is... 6 at night on Thursday West Coast, 9 at night East Coast. And I'll be gone until the 18th. Of August.

And I'm so depressed... I won't have AIM while I'm there!!! Ugh... Argh! I'll have Internet but only my dad is bringing his laptop, and he doesn't have AIM on there (I forgot to put it on there) so I won't have it... *sob* maybe I'll ask him if I can download it on there...

Okies, I'll keep this short and maybe post a little later.

BYE!!!

I have a story

I have a story today!

Once upon a time, in a land where gods ruled directly over men, there lived a boy named Archus. Archus, when young, displayed a talent for archery. When he received his first bow, he immediately pulled the bow back and let loose an arrow that slammed into a bird’s nest. His parents quickly sent him to training for the Olympics. He won the contest easily- and he was the youngest contender there.

When Archus was 15, he (like many teenage boys-pay attention, you people!) had developed an inflated view of himself. He strutted everywhere, boasting that he was as good at archery as Artemis was. “Better, even,” he said with pride.

“That pride will cause his downfall,” his mother whispered to his father.

His father whispered back, “The ungrateful brat deserves it.”

People came from everywhere to see the boy that could shoot, for example, an olive at the far end of the orchard from the roof of his house. His parents charged admission, figuring that there was no point letting money flow by unused.

One day, a group of traveling actors came to see the boy’s act. Archus looked with derision at the group’s cook, a woman that would have looked beautiful if only she did not have a dark birthmark on the left side of her face. “Did your mother spill wine on your face?” Archus taunted.

The woman snorted. “I believe it’s none of your business. And stop bragging about your archery skill.”

“It is too my business! I’m already bringing in chests of gold from admission fees.”

“Gold will not make up for boasting before the gods,” the woman answered sharply. “It is not your time or place to brag.”

“Is too! Artemis, bring it on!” Archus countered.

“You will regret this,” she muttered under her breath, then took a deep breath and transformed into the goddess herself.

“What a…” Archus’ insult petered out into a low moan.

“You said ‘bring it on,’ and I will, of course, bring it on,” Artemis answered.

Archus was left speechless. Artemis continued, “But I believe it is my right to pick the target. I pick… that cloud over there.” She then stretched a hand upward and plucked a golden bow and quiver from the sky. The cloud she’d pointed to shifted and became a target.

“Of course, since you challenged me, it is also your right to go first,” Artemis then shouted to Archus, who had jumped off the roof to try to get a better shot.

“But…” Archus could not say that he had not meant for this to happen, for he had, after all, meant for this to happen.

Artemis then retorted, “Fine. I’ll go first.” She drew an arrow from her quiver, and then carefully fitted the arrow onto the string. Then she pulled the string to her ear, kneeled and pointed the arrow, and then let it loose. The arrow, flying straight and true, flew upward until it looked like a golden flash of light, which then embedded itself into the center of the cloud she’d selected. A shout erupted from the cloud. “Your turn,” she yelled loftily.

“Fine,” Archus answered. He likewise drew an arrow from his quiver, fitted the arrow onto the string, and drew the string. But when he let loose his arrow, it flew upwards twenty feet, then stopped and came hurtling back down. Archus feared for his life, as he thought for a moment that it would hit his head. Artemis deflected the arrow, which then buried itself in the dirt barely 6 inches away from Archus.

“I…” Archus was speechless. He was afraid of divine punishment, but there was little point in protesting.

Artemis plucked a bottle of belladonna from the air as she had picked up her quiver earlier. She took this bottle, as well as some glue, mixed the two liquids, and poured the resulting mixture over Archus. Archus began shrinking until he had become the size and shape of a raccoon. But Artemis was not finished. Using more glue, she glued all his arrows to his skin, so he would wear his own arrows eternally.

The porcupine that was Archus quickly scampered into the underbrush. Artemis snickered. He would be very uncomfortable. ;-)
